Skype voice over internet protocol let’s you use your computer as a telephone.
Wifi or DSL is a radio-waves. It is not free. It is a service provided by ISP.
WIFI is a service just like your NOT FREE cellphone, your internet service, AND your telephone bill.
They are SO not the same thing.

Well VOIP is capable of running over WIFI. VOIP stands for voice over internet protocol or voice over IP. Many companies are switching over to this. Because it sends it over computer networks and even the Internet, Comcast customers can check their voice mail online. There are many advantages of it.
There are wifi enabled phones that allow you to run VOIP over wifi, but most organizations connect it to their ethernet network.
You’re not comparing apples to apples.
Apples to apples is like asking what is the difference between wifi and powerline and why does powerline cost more. Well powerline costs more because the demand is lower. Yeah I know I’m getting off topic, but I can’t resist not getting the word out that wifi is not your only option if you don’t want to rewire your entire home: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9KWdOLgy…
