Not really, though a few extra knowledge on what is VoIP won’t hurt. Check this out: http://www.audio-conferencing-guide.com/…

Nope not at all, Ever hear of Optimum Voice ? Or Comcast phone ? They are VOIP services. There are many other popular services also available I personnally use SKype i use it like a teen line. Voip is the way of the future. Dont fight the power!

No – it’s no more necessary to understand what VoIP is to make a phone call than it is to understand the difference between 4 cylinder vs. 6 cylinder engines before driving a car.
However, the better you understand anything you participate in, the better choices you can make – knowledge is power.
More important than understanding VoIP, is to understand who you are signing up with for service. Always read the terms of service and fine print when signing up for anything on-line – otherwise you may learn more than you planned on – the hard way.
